First off, what is flash player? It is "a cross-platform, browser-based application runtime that provides uncompromised viewing of expressive applications, content, and videos across browsers and operating systems" states adobe.com. There are many pros and cons to using flash player on a website page.
A few sites I looked at when evaluating flash player on websites were www.cartier.com, www.harrywinston.com, and www.tiffany.com. Pros that I quickly realized were that the customer feels luxurious logging onto the site and have beautiful jewels floating around the screen. It feels as if extra effort was put into the site to make sure the customer gets the full experience of shopping in the store without leaving their home.
On the flip side, adobe flash on the three high end jewelers works very well for them and their target market of customers. But imagine facebook using adobe flash. Not all customers have flash installed on their computer and since facebook is a website that is used everyday by customers using flash would not be a smart move!
If you would like to install Adobe it is quick, easy, and FREE! To install go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. Now you can check out sites that have adobe and let me know what you think on the topic!
Thank you for your time and have a great day!
